柠檬饮料 Lemon drink

I just want to share some of the useful lemon beverages taught over 比利 Billy’s FM97.2 programme:-

Green Lemon Juice Water 青柠檬水

Ingredients:
Green Lemon 青柠檬 :
200g
Water 开水 : 600g
Ice cubes 冰块 : 200g
Brown rock sugar 褐色冰糖(small crystal cubes) 80g – 90g - grind into powder

Method:
1. Wash lemons thoroughly clean (may soak in water to remove wax/insecticide).
2. Cut lemons (with skin attached, remove 中间的芯) into 8 small wedges.

3. Stir brown rock sugar powder into water, blend ice cubes in high speed for 1 sec. & stop. Add in lemon, blend in high speed for 1 sec., stop & blend again 1 sec.
(The ice cubes sharp edges help to extract the natural lemon oil from the lemon skin during blending process. Lemon do not 搅太烂,or else it will be very bitter)
4. Strain the residue with a sieve and drink the lemon juice immediately for freshness & better benefits.
May store the cold drink in the thermal flask to consume within a few hours.

Recommend to drink daily.

Benefits: Green lemon is rich in enzyme and vitamins, regular consumption helps to boost immunity, detoxify body’s toxin & reduce fat.

Boiled Lemon Water 煮柠檬水

1 no. of lemon cut into slices, remove the centre stalk 芯 to reduce bitterness.

Boil lemon slices in 600cc/g/ml of water over high heat for 10 min., then to low heat, simmer till water reduce to around 200cc/g/ml.

Strain & discard the lemon residue.

Stir in small amount of brown rock sugar to your taste, stir till dissolve.

Drink the lemon water after it cool down.

Recommend to drink it 1 to 3 times a week.

Benefits: Rich in vitamins help to boost immunity; help to detox, reduce body fat and aid in slimming.

(note: the above are just my simple jot down notes for reference only, in case u have missed it, happy making & enjoy the drink & its benefits ! )

The green lemon 200g is before peeling or after peeling?

Hi Adeline/ Eileen

You are most welcome to try it. I've only made the cold lemon drink many times, nice & refreshing....Happy making & enjoy the drink..

Hi Somewhere

200g is the whole lemon with skin. No need to peel the skin. As mentioned in the recipe, blend the lemon wedges with ice cubes in order to extract the lemon oil found on the skin.

Hi all
Definitely a good drink but for those who are having gastric problem, is advisable not to drink this.

Margaret said...

Hi Michelle

U meant the 1st cold lemon drink right? Yes, it's better to drink it straightaway fresh after blending.

Hi Adeline

Yes, I agree to that, as lemon could be acidic to those who has gastric problem, if really want to drink, drink it moderately & not with empty stomach.

Hi Carina

U are most welcome... U can buy the brown rock sugar (in cubes) from all supermarkets & grocery stores or medical halls. Sometimes it is called by other terms like: yellow crystal 黄晶 sugar. Its actually brown raw rock sugar before purifying to 白冰糖.

Hi KL

I decided to share Billy's health recipes on blog as quite noticed quite a no. of people asking around + I've tried both lemon drinks & find them quite nice & effective.

As for lemon water for face skin, I've jotted down some notes but haven't try it out yet. I have to find time to tidy it up first before sharing.

Hi Carina

As answered in another blog, I can't remember if Billy has mentioned for boiling lemon can put inside the fridge for how many days. For me, I try to finish the drink within a day (anyway it's not much) for its freshness.
